Central Congo Awarded 2008 Championship (8/18)

Playoff games were completed through Saturday morning but were rained out Saturday afternoon. In a display of sportsmanship by Calvary Bible Blue and Calvary Bible Red, the championship was conceded to Central Congo based on their performance during the tournament after it was discovered that Central Congo would not be able to field a team the next week. The website was incorrectly updated for a few hours on Sunday night before I read about the concession. Calvary Bible Blue and Red may play a game at Vets this Friday for second place if both are able to field teams.

Here's a picture of the winning Central Congo team with the trophy:

The Greater Nashua Men's Evangelical Softball League, also called the Church League, is a group of 18 churches supporting 20 teams that have banded together to enjoy competitive adult slow-pitch softball, fellowship with men from our own and other churches, and to be a witness to the life-saving power of Jesus Christ in our lives. Our League plays in Nashua (8 teams) and Derry (12 teams) primarily on Friday nights from late April through mid-August. For more information, browse the web site or contact the President.

Coaches Meeting on 8/5/08
The coaches meeting was held on Tuesday, 8/5, at Community Chapel. One Bylaw change was agreed to: starting with the 2009 season, teams will be allowed to have up to 16 players in the line-up as opposed to the current limitation of up to 13 players.
